Kansas City Temple Open House

After Kaleidoscope we all ate lunch together and then parted ways. We went with the Patterson's so they could take their girls to the American Girls store- and Carly and Baylee wanted to go back.
We needed to all be at the temple so it was a quick little stop.

The temple is BEAUTIFUL! The kids were all so excited to see inside the temple. On a side note- don't put Searcy Creek in your GPS to find the temple like it says on the website- put Shoal Creek. If you don't you will be lost!:)

The kids were so reverent through the tour- it was fun to watch Lexi and Ashlee really pay close attention since they are getting closer to 12. Carly just kept commenting how pretty everything was, and Baylee- well she was in a mood. She was upset to leave the AG store, then fell asleep in the car. When I woke her up it was to put her in her dress- not a happy camper! But to make it worse she had to have the booties on her shoes- she flipped! She was so mad about them soIi finally took them off and her shoes so she could walk. But when she's in her moods it's so hard to get her out of them until she's eaten or really been able to wake up. The lady who was walking with us through the temple whispered to Baylee there is a ladybug on a wall in the painting. That did it- she was so into finding it and after that was actually pretty good. She still let us know periodically she wanted her shoes back on, but the lady bug did the trick. I was so thankful!

Wiser and Patterson kids... Bingham's had a later time.

When we were packing for our trip I couldn't decide what we should wear to the temple. I am not a fan of Sunday attire, so anytime I don't have to wear it I don't. Not to mention when you're traveling it's hard to find a place to stop and change. After really thinking about it I decided we needed to go in church clothes. I wanted my kids to know how important the temple is. Because I know what the temple is, I just didn't feel good about us going in street clothes. Not that I judged anyone who did- this was just my feelings on it. So the three older girls and I changed in the car while we drove on the freeway- and Darrell changed in the parking lot. I was blocking windows for him- and he started laughing. The family next to us was also changing as well.
I am so thankful for the temple. I know that families are eternal! I know that when we do attend the temple we are blessed- but so are the people who we are doing the work for.
