Room Changes

After many months we have decided to switch the girls rooms around. We are going to have Lexi and Ashlee share a room and they will both be in Lexi's room. Carly will move upstairs to Ashlee's room and Baylee will join her when I'm ready to send her up there. Ashlee is sad to say goodbye to her polka dot room- she LOVES it. She wasn't very happy to find out she was going to not only lose her room, but have to give up her stripes and dots as well, but after looking at new bedding she is all for giving it up. Carly is starting a new preschool and will have to get up early with the older girls.
This project is a lot bigger then I was thinking. Lexi and Ashlee decided to surprise me and move all Ashlee's clothes into Lexi's closet. Since they took the first step I figured I better keep it going. I spent 3 hours in ASHLEE'S closet! She is a pack rat! Still after all that her room is not clean- in fact it's still quite a mess!

I did get all the books off the bookshelf and into Lexi's closet, and got all the games into what will be Carly's closet- that's the only thing that looks organized after all my hours of sorting and cleaning!

I thought it was so great that they both had walk in closets, now I am cursing that fact. Do you know how much crap gets hidden in there?! Lexi's closet door won't open all the way because she has 3 old backpacks full of junk behind the door. (Ashlee had 4 in her closet!!)

School was canceled today for snow, so everyone was here when I was throwing things away, many tears were shed by Ashlee. It's hard for her to part with paper that she wants to save and reuse, shoe boxes she's hidden to make crafts with, and wrapping paper rolls to draw on. I'm all for recycling, but I do have to draw the line! School is also canceled tomorrow so I'm hoping to get both upstairs rooms done and have Carly's stuff moved up by tomorrow. Then will come the fun of selling our huge bunk bed set, buying 2 new twin beds, and buying a new set of small bunk beds. I have been looking on craigslist and am hoping to find some good deals on beds and hoping someone will buy our set.
I went out in the snow with the kids today, yes you read that right- I WENT OUT IN THE SNOW! Baylee needed to see it, but wasn't very impressed with it as you can tell by her expression of joy in the picture!
Here's a picture Lexi took so Darrell will believe me when I say I was actually outside, not just standing in the doorway.

Ashlee is just like me! I've gotten so much better at my pack ratting. It magically changed when I was packing up my room before I got married. Craigslist is always my first stop, but are there any use furniture stores in the area? I love them. Sometimes they buy furniture too.

Cleaning day-gotta love it!! Kennedy and Ashlee are certainly related-what cute little pack rats they are though. And I was going to ask how you fit the games and books into closets, but then you said they are walk-in-so is that easier?

Perhaps it's a girl thing. My girls are treasure keepers too! Enjoy the clean rooms while they last!

Seeing your puzzle shelf just gave me the itch to go clean something. Thanks for the shot in the arm! I needed it!

Liss. Ashley and Kenna are the exact same!! Makes me so so crazy! I spent Thursday doing that exact same thing, only all our kids were visiting my gparents in Logan so they dont know what is missing...and it was a lot. ;O) Way to go!! I am so totally impressed. Suggestion. Kenna and Rissa have bunks and I hate them. So hard to make. And changing bedding. UGH!! I wish we would have done more of a daybed/captains bed that the trundle can come in and out. They are really cool now, not near as 80s as I am sure your are visualizing. Ha ha. Just a thought. I love that school is canceled cuz the grass is covered. Hilarious.

How do you keep all the boxes to your games so nice. we got Candy Land for Christmas and it already looks 2 years old! Way to go to get organized! Good luck.

PS Don't worry, Grace loves to save papers to. In fact she knows she doesn't need them, but since she doesn't want to throw them away, she gives them to her sisters to keep!!!

Your comments are making me question wanting walk-in closets for the kids in our new house. Sounds like a mess waiting to happen. Your organization looks great. It's too bad that it doesn't last long- at least not at my house :)
