I can't believe Lexi is 12! She has been counting down the months, weeks, and days to finally be 12. Two weeks before her birthday she needed new running shoes. Because she loves to run and wants to do Track next year we wanted to get her good shoes. I took her in to get her feet fitted and of course the ones that fit her the best were $125!! We had a 30% off so it was a little less. Darrell and I told her those were her birthday present- and she loved them, but REALLY wanted a cell phone. Every time phones have come up she has reminded me I told her when she was 12 she could have her own phone, and I would remind her that she just got some really nice shoes...
Darrell and I did still plan on getting her a phone, but it was really fun tricking her. We are switching our phone plan, and we hadn't ordered her phone yet- so I printed out the phone we are thinking of getting her and wrapped it.
She was really surprised- I love the look she has when she looks up at me, kind of asking are you tricking me or what??
She can't wait for her phone to come!
For her party we decided a camping theme. We set up the tent in the backyard, roasted smores, watched a movie on a projector, made magnetic boards, and glitter/ glow jars. We played a glow balloon game in the dark, had cake, and then it was almost midnight.
My friend Carrie made Lexi's cake and matching cupcakes. Originally we planned on getting a "Cake Lady" cake, but they were booked- couldn't take anymore orders. Carrie offered to do it- and it turned out so cute! I saw this cake on pinterest- it was perfect!
We played a How Well Do You Know Lexi game- for every wrong answer they had to put a piece of bubble gum in their mouth. Lexi had to put one more then the person who had the most- Lexi fit 11 pieces of gum in...
The singing to Happy Birthday was.... it was awful- hence the look on Lexi's face. :)
There was a crazy amount of screaming, squealing, and giggling all night and morning- but they all had so much fun!
Happy birthday Lexi! We love you and are thankful to have you as part of our family!
It kind of makes me a little sick to think how old my girls are getting. Lexi has 2 more years until she can start learning to drive, 4 more years until she can date (gasp/choke/sob!) and 6 more years until she graduates! That's crazy!!

Your last paragraph made me get all teary. Sweet girls. Time flies. But you threw a super awesome party.
That looks like such a fun party. You are a fun mom. I still want to be like you when I grow up. :-)
How fun!! I don't like that our kids are getting all huge. It makes me sad. But Happy B-day, Lexi! Also, the picture of Baylee sitting bare bum on the piano bench...makes me want to pinch her bum cheeks! (not in a creepy way)
I can't believe she's 12! Now all the fun begins!! And such a cool party theme.
