Sometimes you just never know when the urge to play the piano will hit. For Baylee it is usually after her bath when she is suppose to be running upstairs to get her clothes. She loves to sit and play and make up all kinds of songs...
Belle... Oh how we love this puppy- but we had NO idea how much money it takes to have a puppy! Belle is sensitive to something- we just aren't exactly sure to what. Shortly after we got her she started getting a rash on her tummy. The rash came as the grass started greening up so I attributed it to allergies- which can be quite common. Soon the rash got really bad and she was scratching like crazy! We have now been almost weekly to the vet trying to get it all cleared up. He treated her for a staph infection, mange, and now she is on prednisone for allergies. We are on day 3 of prednisone and she isn't scratching as much but her rash still looks the same. Oh, and we have switched her to grain free food- it's not cheap. When I think about the financial aspect of this puppy it makes me sick and frustrated. But when I watch my kids play with her, and when I come home and play with her- it's all worth it. She is a good puppy. We have had her trained to stay on the tile only and have started letting her have a little more freedom in the house. She is funny- she has a silly personality. She has certain towels she loves- like this yellow one she is on. She drags it to the door and lays there. When she is itchy she will use her paws and put the towel up on her face and rub her face- it looks like she's washing her face. She tries to bury things in her crate- and will eventually give up on the digging and just drag her towel over what ever she is trying to hide and use her nose to spread the towel out to look like nothing is under it. She also is just like a kid when she has something she shouldn't have. She grabs it and runs as fast as she can to her crate... She never wants to be in her crate- she likes to be out, so that's a big red flag that she is trying to hide something. And that something is usually a sock.
Mine and our neighbor's mailboxes were hit a few days ago. It was an 18 year old boy- he wasn't speeding- I think he just over corrected the wheel. Luckily no kids were hurt- it was just the very expensive and heavy mailboxes. He was driving his mom's brand new mini van for the first time- she was not happy with him at all! Poor kid! When I found out these mailboxes are $320 a piece- I'm so thankful his insurance will be paying for them!
Each year we have participated in the Gold Rush 5k. The first year we were here only Darrell and Lexi ran- now it's a family event. I ran the mile with Ashlee and Carly- while pushing Baylee in the stroller. Darrell and Lexi ran the 5k. Each year there are more and more people. It was awful to try and push the jogging stroller- I had no choice but to walk on and off because there were so many kids (and adults) who don't understand you can't cut off someone with a stroller with out getting the back of your foot or leg hurt. Ashlee asked if she could go on her own- she ran the mile in 9 minutes 16 seconds! She says she hates running, but this kid can run! (next year I need to figure out how to get her to do running club again...)
Carly, Baylee, Ashlee, and I cheered Darrell and Lexi on. It was HOT and HUMID! Lexi really struggled- Darrell said he kept pouring water on her head through the run trying to keep her cooled down. They were both a little bummed with their time of 38ish minutes- they are usually right around 30. But I think they did great!! I love that our family is able to do this each year! Maybe next year Baylee can run it with us!
Each school has their own running club shirt- Carly and Lexi both participated in running club at their schools- the gray ones the rest of us have are the ones you get when you register with out a school.

Our little dog Brodie had a lot of allergies too. We had him on a medication called atopica that helped for a bit but his was a genetic thing. Hope you figure it out. They become such a part of the family.
What great updates...the pic of Baylee on the piano is adorable! You have a great way of looking at the dog, yep, they're expensive, but when the kids are into them it's well worth it!
