Lot's To Catch Up On!

Let's see..... there are so many things going on here- and I'm way behind on blogging! This post will have quite the variety of things in it!

Lexi had her 3rd grade play- it was so stinking cute and fun! They did a little radio show with music from the 20's to the 80's. I am so glad I made the poodle skirts last year- they have come in handy many times now!

Here's a little of what they did!
Lately Ashlee and Carly are very into rollie pollies- have I mentioned how much I don't like bugs?! Even harmless ones- it's just gross to me to see them pick them up and let them crawl all over them. I have instilled in all my girls a terrible fear of bugs, until recently. Ashlee and Carly are very intrigued by them. Lexi is still a little squirmish- but is getting braver. Here's a picture of Carly holding a rollie pollie she found in the garage.

I had our frozen dinner swap and made 80 chimichanga's! I swear if I smell one anytime soon I will throw up!
We started taking Ashlee to a Play Therapist in hopes of helping her learn to cope with stress and fears. It's way too expensive- but we really are positive that it will help her and that makes it worth it! She really enjoys her sessions- they literally play, but the therapist talks her through some of her fears and helps her learn coping skills. The first session was a little funny though- Darrell and I had to answer all kinds of questions about ourselves, our marriage, our families.... We both came out feeling like maybe we should be seeing a therapist!;) My goals for Ashlee are that she will learn to not fear things so bad that she completely shuts down. It's OK to be scared, but not to be completely paralyzed in fear of things- like rain storms, dogs, and many other things. I have realized part of this is my fault- like the bugs. Because I over react to things it makes it that much scarier to Ashlee. So I'm trying to learn my own coping skills I guess! The therapist has a great book on kids and anxiety disorders- it had so much info- very helpful!
Yesterday I had quite the adventure! I'm not going into too many details because it's just too embarrassing- but I'll tell a little. I have been a little sick the past few days- just feel really weird and not like normal. I took Ashlee to a party at Chuck E Cheese and was entertaining Carly while we were there. Tokens were gone so I was taking Carly over to the ticket counter and I realized I was either going to pass out or throw up- neither of which did I want to do in the middle of Chuck E Cheese on a Saturday at 5:00! I took Carly in the bathroom with me and ended up passing out in the bathroom stall. Poor Carly was completely traumatized! She was screaming like CRAZY!! As I was coming back awake I could hear someone screaming for their mommy, and it took me a minute to realize it was Carly. I had passed out and fallen backwards- hitting my head on the wall of the stall. I was trying to comfort her and keep my head down because I could feel I was going to go out again. She wouldn't let me touch her- and was shaking, but stopped crying. After another few minutes I called Darrell on my cell phone and told him I was in the women's bathroom stall and couldn't leave- if I stood up I would pass out again. He was at a Daddy Daughter activity with Lexi and said he'd get someone to drive over with him so I wouldn't have to drive home. I kept trying to explain to him that I was in the bathroom stall- how was he going to get me. He finally realized what I was saying and just told me to try to get out by our neighbor who was there. I hung up and felt like it had only been a matter of seconds when I spoke to him and my phone rang again. It was him asking how I was doing- I thought that was strange since I just told him how I was doing- turns out it had been another 5 minutes- I must have passed out again! Can you imagine if you were in one of the other stalls in there?! Crazy lady has a child screaming hysterically, then is on the phone trying to arrange a ride home! I finally made it out of the bathroom just as Ashlee and her friend were coming in the bathroom. She had been looking for me for a half hour! I couldn't believe how long I had been in and out of consciousness! I found my neighbor and asked her to take us home so we didn't have to wait for Darrell- I was not doing so well. We got home and I let the kids go play while I rested on the couch. Our other neighbor came to get her daughter since I so kindly offered to take their daughter home before I knew I was sick! Carly got to the door before me and the first thing out of her mouth was, "My Mom flushed the toilet with her arm with out wiping and it scared me!" OK- so can we say EMBARRASSING?! I had to quickly explain I passed out and as I did my arm hit the flusher and it really freaked Carly out. Here I thought Carly was scared because she watched me pass out and really it was because she didn't like that I flushed the toilet with my arm as I fell over! I have quite the bruise from that stupid flusher too! It has been a while since I have had one of these horribly embarrassing moments! I was wishing today that my friend was here to tell her story of passing out in the shower and landing on the faucet- oh the fun places she had to get stitches- it would make me feel better! Or when she passed out in the temple and it wasn't so graceful! Oh, these stories are classic- but they are hers and I am so glad they are hers! I keep reminding myself my story could have been much worse- so I need to be thankful I was in the stall and only poor Carly saw me!

My kids made me some nice cards to feel better. I love the backs that tell me I Rock!! I love my girls!! Hopefully by tomorrow i will be fully recovered! I'm sure Darrell is hoping also since he has had to do everything!

Ok that is too bad about your passing out BUG! I'm sorry that I was laughing while I was reading. Hopefully Carly has recovered as well.

So I'm coming for Thanksgiving. I'm just working out the details with Dustin. He wants me to just fly, but I will feel guilty because my kids want to go so bad! I just might end up driving, Dustin will probably stay here. He has a few things he wants to get done. I will not leave till Fri morning though. I want to spend the hoilday with Dust. I'll let you know once our minds are made up.

Oh Alissa, I'm so sorry that happened to you, but it is too funny and sounds like a story from Jessica's life - her stories are classic!! Now we can all tell this story about you! For me, collapsing in a dirty bathroom stall at Chuck E. Cheese would be worse than actually passing out!

I sure hope you are feeling better. You might want to see a doctor if these spells continue.

On a brighter note, I sure wish I had come and made the poodle skirts last year. They are so cute and I think we'd use them a lot too.

So I obviously didn't think it was funny at the time that it was happening, but reading it now, I have to admit I was laughing! :) I hope you are feeling better now.

Poor Carly, she'll need to go to play therapy with Ashlee to get over her fear of flushing now. jk But seriously, that is a long time to be out of it. You better get checked out by the doc and have a pregnancy test!!!! You never know!

Well it's Tuesday night and I hope you are feeling better. Is it a frequent thing for you to get sick and pass out? I would have called an ambulence and had you taken to the hospital. Man, I hope you are doing better.
I think you said something key regarding helping Ashlee with her fears. Talking her through and teaching her coping skills. Elijah needed me to talk him through social activities to teach him how to socialize appropriatley. He's doing very well. Learn as much as you can from the play therapist. Write what you learn in a journal for quick reference and apply what you can to yourself. You and Ashlee will get through this together!!
