Lexi had auditioned for Bel Canto at school and Darrell and I didn't even know it! It's a choir that over 200 kids auditioned for and they took the top 40- she made it! If you're in Bel Canto you are required to audition for Regional Choir, and there is a bit of traveling involved for performances. Lexi sings Soprano I, and she really enjoys it. It's been fun listening to her practice her music. Darrell doesn't get home till almost 6 each night so all homework is usually done, therefore he never hears Lexi practice. One day he came home early and just stood in the kitchen listening to her- he turned to me so surprised and said, "She's really good!"
A few weeks ago she was struggling to hit a particular high not, her voice would crack each time, but I knew she could hit it. I gave her a few tips on how to hold her head and stand, and of course dropping the jaw. She looked at me like I was crazy for thinking it would help her- but when she did it and her voice didn't crack she looked at me with this completely amazed look and said, "Whoa- it worked!" I reminded her sometimes I do have good advice.:)
Her first choir concert was a District wide concert, all 6-12 grade choirs. She is always on the front row which has it's benefits, but dang it the director always ends up in front of her and it makes getting pictures a lot harder!
Waiting for the concert to start
Washington Jr High and Lincoln Jr High Choirs
She really wasn't looking right at me, she was trying to look above the other choir teachers head
Most of the girls started laughing at the same time in this picture- after Lexi told me the LJHS choir director was "spazzy" while directing them. Most of the girls turned different directions so they weren't looking at her to control the laughter.
I love this girl!
I've never posted a youtube video, but I'm hoping it will work. Here is the last song, all choirs combined. Baylee kept bumping my arm- so sorry about the shakes!

What a beautiful talented girl! So I noticed on your video that you are in Bentonville District...How far are you from Fayetteville? (I think that's how you spell it) Ryan is going there all next week for work...It would be fun for him to come see you guys...He will be all alone :(
My email is randdsnow@ubtanet.com
She is beautiful. The boys are going to knock the door down.
