Lexi finally started piano lessons and LOVES it! She started a few weeks ago but I kept forgetting the camera, for blogging purposes. Our plans were to start her and buy a keyboard for her to practice on. Unfortunately Wal- Mart has failed us since they are out of stock!! We are depending on our kind friend and neighbor, Amy, to share her piano with us. The first week poor Lexi had to pretend she had a piano on her lap and practice finger movements on her legs!! But Amy is so generous to share her piano for Lexi to practice. She is also generous to share her elliptical machine with me to use while Lexi is practicing! What a great friend- THANKS AMY!!!!

Lexi had an award ceremony in her class this week for honor roll. This picture isn't the greatest because she wanted to sit down. The teacher was explaining to all the kids that they are to take the honor roll sticker and put it on their parents bumpers, not let the parents do it! She has a great teacher, Thanks Mrs.
Zarse!
Lexi also started TREC a few weeks ago, the same week as her first piano lessons. She loves it and looks forward to it each week. I'm excited for her to be challenged and get to participate in the fun projects. My one concern is the portables look really old- if there is bad weather I really wonder if they will stay standing!!
This past week it has really hit me how grown up Lexi is getting- I can't believe she get's baptized this year! She can't wait and talks about it all the time, but I don't like the thought of her being held accountable! Did I teach her enough and did have I been a good example of what we want her to be? How did the rest of you who have already been through this make it?! She is such a great kid- she very rarely gives me grief, and she's a great helper! The Bishop asked the kids at Baptism Preview why they wanted to be a member of this church and we were talking about it with Lexi on the way home. I kept thinking how is he going to answer that?! I was trying to think of my mind set at 7 and I know I wouldn't have had a clue what to say. But she was very confident in saying- "It's the only true church. The others don't have the priesthood. " I LOVE LOVE this kid!!

Way to kill two birds with one stone- exercising and piano practice at the same time! You are one efficient mom. No tips for the turning 8 thing. That is funny that you are worried about her being accountable! I'm sure you've taught her well!!
I was so worried about it too last September when it was Taylor's 8th birthday - I was so afraid she wouldn't have the right answers for the bishop interview! I swear I went over the questions with her a dozen times! It will be just fine - these kids are smarter than we realize!
And Lexi will love piano lessons - Taylor looks forward to them every week!
Good for Lexi!! What a cute girl she is. I can't believe she will be 8!!
Sorry I accidentally deleted the comment before! I can't believe Lexi and Maddy are getting baptised this year either. I know that you have taught your daughter well. She is such a good kid! With them getting baptized I just want my daughter to understand the power of the atonement you know? As much as we teach them, there will be bad decisions made in her lifetime and I just want her to know that she can repent and be whole. I so wish that I could make all her decision from my motherly perspective and make sure that she never feels hurt or pain. Isn't that what we all wish and what all our mothers wished for us? The trick is letting them grow up and make decisions on their own but still parenting them without being to overbearing I think! I am not sure how well I am going to do at that but I am going to try!
That's so funny that she had to practice on her legs. Hillary is loving piano and is starting to play simple hymns. It's so fun to listen to her learn! She is getting baptized this weekend and I gotta tell ya, I'm FREAKING out! I hope she's really ready! I hope I have taught her enough. Good luck with Lexi's!
