Heart Sptopping Moment

Last night I got home from Enrichment and Darrell was on the computer and looked very sad. I was just about to ask what was wrong when he told me, "Casey Nish died." I sat on the bed in a kind of shock, and then just got so sad for my friend and her family. Casey and his wife Lani are friends of ours in Las Vegas, they have 3 young kids- youngest just turned 6. Casey has been battling Leukemia for years- in fact he was in remission when we first moved in the ward 4-5 years ago.
I know we all knew eventually this would happen- all of us have our time. But Casey has been this miracle- truly a walking talking miracle. I have been absolutely amazed at him since we moved to Arkansas and heard his Leukemia was back. I love reading his blog about his adventures- and just about his out look. He is such a funny guy- and all his posts include funny little stories. I don't know how much I would find funny if I was going through what he has been going through- but he always found things. He has been an incredible example to me of taking advantage of life- being thankful for what you have, and enjoying the small things.
He was called into the Bishopric a few months ago, and when I read that in his blog I was kind of shocked. Here he is fighting for his life- but still serving the Lord. I also have no doubt that he was called into the Bishopric so he could touch peoples lives. I'm sure he go the opportunity to touch many people's lives and I'm sure they are very thankful.
I am so thankful to have met such a great person as Casey- he has made such an impact in mine and Darrell's life. We are so thankful to know that families can be together forever! I think that's one of the biggest things that gets any of us through death- is knowing the promise of seeing your loved one again.
Please keep his family in your prayers- I'm sure they can all use it!

Thanks for sharing. It can be so hard to see others suffering but it's awesome when they can have such a positive outlook on life. It really puts things into perspective. The Lord definitely has a plan and I am grateful for those who help us to see his hand in all things!

I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. I can't imagine going through all of that, and having to try to be strong, and helping your little kids cope with their sadness too. But at least we have the gospel and the knowledge that we will be together again after this life. Take care and have a fun Thanksgiving!

The same thing happened to us. Dustin got an email from Andrew and I got one from Heidi and we were both just sort of shocked and so saddend by the news of his death. I just thought that he seemed to be doing pretty good. I hope Lani is holding up well. We have definintely been thinking and praying about his family.
