We have lived here for over 2 years and FINALLY made our first trip to Branson Missouri. We have heard so much about the fun parks like Silver Dollar City, and all the shows they have there, but still never made it. Along with hearing how great it is to have a little theme park an hour and a half away- we also heard the roads are very curvy and hill-y, is that a word?!
We decided this year we would get season passes since we are not going to make it to Disneyland this summer- then we can take the kids up for a day or two after I have the baby, and they can still have lot's of fun.
We left Wednesday- and we were actually on time, which is kind of a rare occurrence here in our house! We had to stop a few times because Carly was feeling sick, but she finally fell asleep- and we made it to Branson. Carly woke up and was acting normal so Darrell gave her crackers while I ran in a gas station to go to the bathroom. If I had been in the car I would not have let her have anything- but she really was acting fine. A few minutes later the crackers came back up all over Carly and her seat belt. We were wishing we had given her some Dramamine or something- because we could not get the smell out of her seat belt no matter how much we scrubbed and used Febreeze. Every time we got in the car all 3 girls plugged their noses the whole drive.
We were able to check in our hotel early and give Carly time to recover, then we decided to check out Branson. We took the kids miniature golfing- which they loved! We did decide 18 holes is a little too long for a 4 year old though.

Some of our friends got to Branson the same afternoon we did so we met up with them for dinner, and then took the kids to a fountain show- it was quick, but really fun. The weather was a little weird- cold and rainy, then suddenly very nice to where they only needed light jackets.
Day 2 was spent at Silver Dollar City. The kids were in heaven, so was Darrell actually! They had lot's of rides, roller coasters, and friends were there too. I on the other hand got to sit and watch everyone, since I was not allowed on any rides. I did get some good walking in, and have suddenly remembered how much I don't like Braxton Hicks contractions! The park had hills that were quite the work out for anyone to walk, let alone push a stroller up!

Carly really wanted her picture taken by this bucket, while we waited for the others on a ride.

The clouds looked really cool, we were suppose to get rain, but it never did- yeah!
Day 3 we were going to try and go back to Silver Dollar City, but it was suppose to rain- a lot. We had a few other ideas of what to do, but it ended up not raining at all- so we spent another day with rides, friends, and of course park food!

I feel kind of bad since I don't have many pictures with Lexi in them- but she was in all the big rides where I couldn't go. I am very surprised how brave my girls are with the rides they will try. If they don't like it the first time Darrell will somehow convince them to try again- and they love them! They do not get the brave gene from me- I would much rather ride the rides that keep you close to the ground! We all decided to watch a magic show right before we left for home- the guy was pretty funny. He asked for a volunteer- a girl- so Ashlee raised her hand. He came down and picked her up- then decided to call her Puddles instead of Ashlee since- he acted like she wet her pants on him. Ashlee did not get a lot of his humor- but tried to act like she did. She helped him do magic tricks, and she had a lot of fun up there. But if you call her Puddles now she will cry- she is for sure our sensitive child!

Ashlee with her puppy as a parting gift!
I took a few video's of the rides, but it takes too long to upload them! We were excited to see that Silver Dollar City is a nice park- it's got tons of rides, and we had a lot of fun! The kids are already asking when we can go back- Lexi told me she liked it better then Disneyland! I don't think I'd go that far- but there was plenty of things, and they had lot's of big roller coasters she loved!

That sounds like a super fun trip. I too have always heard Branson was fun and it's great to hear it is so family friendly too!
You are right on about trying to get the smell out of the seatbelt. I have been lucky though that the only time it happened to us was in a rental car - knock on wood!!!
It looks like it was way fun-and Darrell was chatting away to Trav about it, so it muct have been. Looks like it wasn't very busy or crowded either-maybe that's why Lex liked it better-less wait!
My kids are begging to go back as well! I love how brave Lexi shamed the boys into riding the scary rides!
What a fun trip. Poor Ashlee. I would cry too if someone was calling me puddles.
Poor Carly! I am glad she is feeling better! That is awesome you have somewhere like that close! Enjoy it! I wanna see a belly picture too.
I really miss having a belly. ..not quite enough though ;O)
That looks like a lot of fun. How tall do you have to be to go on the rides? I wonder if Brady could go on any of the rides? I totally got sick on the ride up there too. Didn't throw up like your daughter but we had to stop 5 mins before we got there because I was about to!! I feel your pain.
Very glad you had a good time!!! It looks like a ton of fun!
What a fun time.
