I have an adorable 1 year old. She has the cutest little face, perfect chubby cheeks, beautiful LONG eyelashes, curly brown hair that is also quite adorable. She makes me smile and laugh so much! Oh, and can she do the cutest little things- makes my heart melt.
Then there is the other side of her personality- this is where the confession comes in.
Her scream/squawk/cry is so loud it annoys the crud out of me! It makes me feel very frazzled and grouchy- and I don't know what to do. IT started when we went to Las Vegas over Memorial Day and it has only gotten worse since then!
I love this little girl, I really do, but sometimes I feel like I'm going crazy because of her screams. She is very demanding and since she doesn't speak yet we get a whole lot of screams for something. We started teaching sign language- it helped all my other kids, but Baylee only will do one sign over and over and scream when she does it. Yes, she knows lot's of other signs, but she won't use them. She can also verbally say words like "up" but instead of saying it she screams with her arms up in the air. If she wants ANYTHING (good luck figuring out what she wants) she screams and signs "eat."
If her screams weren't so loud maybe it wouldn't make me so crazy- but seriously, they are LOUD! Like loud enough that people, not just kids jump and kind of cover their ears after a while.
I don't know what else to do. Some would say ignore it, but if you were near her you would hear how loud it is and realize it can't be ignored, and also because I care for everyone else's sanity and hearing. I will flick her little cheek if it's really bad, but I feel bad, and it doesn't do anything because she screams over and over right after.
She does know when she is in trouble, she drops her chin to her chest and won't look up for a minute. But, as soon as her head pops up there is a scream coming out of her mouth.
So help- anyone with ideas. I know it's a phase that she will out grow. But if there is anything anyone has done, heard of, tried, thought of trying, anything... please help! We are leaving in a few days for Nauvoo- a place where lot's of people want to feel the spirit- not hear a scream all over the place! I swear we could probably stand on one end of Nauvoo with her and hear her on the other.
I always say I'm going to sell her on eBay, but I've decided I need to stop saying that- Carly thinks I really am. She has found a few bidders for me who want her! The first paragraph is what I'd put on eBay- who can resist that?!

Oh I am so sorry. I have children with VERY loud voices and children that have decided to be very verbal with them as well. I don't have any suggestions sadly but to ignore her but seriously i completely sympathize with the fact that it is embarrassing and infuriating! Good Luck!
I'm sorry about the screaming, but she is very adorable. I would say if you can remove her from the room while she screams, she might calm down, or at least it will give you a break from the screaming. Good luck. Claire throws full on tantrums, lying on the floor and kicking her legs, but if we ignore it she usually stops. Let us know what you discover.
Love this post. I think our families are IDENTICAL, well, at least our baby girls are!!! If you get any more good tips let me know. Emily's high pitched scream during the sacrament prayer is totally embarrassing!!!!
Maybe it was this generation of babies. Cooper does the exact same thing. It's so embarrassing especially if were in public. We almost got kicked out of the library because of his screaming. Cooper doesn't even want anything he thinks its funny and does it over and over.Bentley always covers her ears poor thing. So please when you found out how to stop please let me know.
Hey, at least she's cute! ;-) I love Dr. Sears so after I read your post I looked up what his response would be. So here ya go, and good luck! We love you guys!

Good luck! She is extremely adorable!
Isaac's a screamer as well. Maybe there's something in the water??? I hope you figure out something, and when you do, I'd love a bit of that knowledge. Hope you get at least a little break in Nauvoo!
I would try the idea of moving her to another room and walking away. I always liked the crib. There is a door attached to that room. You'll get a good workout going up and down stairs the first few days!! Good luck!!!
