Ashlee Nicole was born 6 years ago today at 12:11 pm, 6 pounds 9 oz and 19 inches long. So since it's her big day I'm making this post all about her! The pictures are from her each of her birthdays- some are her parties, hence the Halloween costumes. Every year she likes to have a Halloween Birthday party, this year is no exeption!
We were so poor when Ashlee joined our family. We had talked about having another baby, but since Lexi was only 10 months old we would wait a while. Little did we know I was already 2 months pregnant. I figured she would be nice like Lexi and come a month early- I was planning on it. When I was 30 weeks they started checking to make sure I wasn't dilating early- but I was already a 1. At 32 weeks they checked and I was at a 2, so they put me on light bed rest. That of course geared me up for an early baby. By 36 weeks I was a 5 and there was no baby yet. I was trying everything- I wanted her out. We didn't find out if she was a boy or girl- I swore she was a boy though. Anyway, by 37 weeks I was mad that I hadn't had her yet. Then 38 weeks came- who has ever heard of someone being a 5 for 2 weeks and not going into labor?! I think my doctor was tired of hearing me complain, and had sympathy on me. He induced me at 38 weeks and 5 days- I was so happy! I got my epidural immediately- I was not wanting to feel anything- I felt too much with Lexi! They broke my water when I got to a 7 and an hour later Ashlee came. Funny side notes are my doctor wasn't ready for me to go that fast- he literally was running to catch Ashlee! He missed Lexi's birth and didn't want to miss Ashlee's. He was a friend of my brother's and so he was nicer to me- hence the induction before 39 weeks! Also, when Ashlee came out Darrell saw the cord and said it's a boy, then the doctor laughed and said it's a girl!
Ashlee wasn't an easy baby- I don't know who cried more, me or her! I was having some major postpartum issues, and she NEVER slept! Somehow we survived the first year! She could laugh and make your heart melt though! I loved her smile then and still love to see her smile- it's contagious! Ashlee started talking around 10 months and then there was no stopping her. People were so surprised to hear her talk-she had no hair and she looked too small to be able to say so many words!
We moved to Las Vegas just before her 2nd birthday. She doesn't remember the Utah days- but misses Las Vegas so much- especially her friend Megan. Ashlee and Megan were so stinkin cute together- everyone needs a friend like Megan. I can't talk about Ashlee and not talk about Megan- they were inseparable.
I asked Ashlee a few questions so everyone could know her better. These were her responses. Her favorite color is blue, even though she has a pink room, cause sometimes she likes pink, but not as much as blue. She wants to be a Teacher when she grows up, but a mom too. A teacher you have to go to College, but a Mom you have to take care of kids and clean and stuff. She thinks a Teacher would be a little more fun. She loves stuffed animals and baby dolls. Her favorite stuffed animal right now is Patch, she got him from the hospital when she had her surgery. Her favorite things to do are swim lessons, tumbling, and play with her friends. She loves school, and her favorite thing in school is recess lunch and Free Time Friday. Her wish is that we would get her a pet hamster or kitten - I have told her those aren't going to happen for a while. Well the hamster for sure will never happen- gross!
Ashlee is a happy little girl who loves life and Darrell and I are so thankful to have her in our family. She makes us laugh and always has so many things to tell us, and I mean SO many! Happy Birthday Ashlee!!
