Today is Caleb's 6th Birthday! We had a fun party for him with an Army theme. We first had a grenade hunt (camo easter eggs with little toys inside), then we had a relay race of packing up an army back pack and running through an obstacle course. The kids had a lot of fun, and of course BBQ-ing hot dogs was a highlight also. He was so excited to open presents and loved the roller blades, games, Nerf guns, light saver, Transformer, and Spider man Lego's. When I put him to bed that night he told me he was feeling a little frustrated with is party. I asked him why and he was having a hard time trying to explain what he was thinking. In my mind I was thinking- are you kidding me?! I just planned this party and dinner for you and you're not happy with it?! Finally he got out that he thought a Birthday Party was a surprise party. I realized he probably has never had a party where he invited friends and didn't know what to expect, except for what he saw on TV. Since his party was Friday night, and his actual birthday is today- we are going to hide, jump out and yell surprise- hopefully that will ease his frustration!:)
Since many of you don't know Caleb well, I'll share a few things about him. He is such a great little boy- so smart and loves to have fun. He is definitely all boy- he is great at any sport. He was playing basketball with a 10 and 12 year old. The 12 year old left crying because he couldn't believe Caleb had beat him! I asked Caleb what he wants to be when he get older, he wasn't quite sure, but a few things he mentioned are a Doctor, Football Player, or Baseball player. His favorite color is red. He loves learning to read and is getting so good at it for a kindergartner. He constantly asks for someone to play any board game with him, his favorite game right now is Memory. We have felt very blessed to have Caleb live with us and it was so much fun to do a little boy birthday party- well OK, it was hard at first! I'm use to pink and princess things, not boy stuff! We love Caleb and are so thankful to have in in our family!
I camouflaged the batter- I was really nervous it would be puke green, then Darrell reminded me army green is puke green!
Blowing out the candles
So ready to open presents!
Caleb and his little friend Bryn!

Holy Cow! I hadn't checked your blog for a while and I find you with insta-boys! Awesome job on the party. A.J. is 7 this week, so you'll have to let me in on the camo-cake secret. I am cake-challenged. We are headed to Arkansas this summer. I will call you, maybe we can meet up somewhere.
