First of the Season

We had to get in our tornado closet for the first time this tornado season. We have had lot's of rain storms and some were really windy, and hail, but today was quite the storm! Darrell called me to tell me there was a tornado warning- I thought he was confused because our weather radio didn't go off. But sure enough- I was out in the garage and I heard the siren. I HATE the sound those things make- such an eerie sound! Lexi and Ashlee were upstairs and heard it, they came right down and got in the closet. Carly was running around gathering her important things- blankets and babies. I had Baylee in her car seat since we had just got home from Lexi's volleyball camp- so I just stuck the car seat in with the girls. I was watching the weather and happened to look outside and saw a HUGE wall cloud- so I just got in the closet with the kids. Darrell called and they were all being moved to a safe place at his work- I was glad to hear from him. I hate being separated during these things.

First time having a new baby in with us. Baylee got hungry so I started feeding her- and tossed the car seat out of the closet- it was tight quarters. Then of course Baylee pooped, cause that's what she does best. I started changing her, and we only had a flashlight, but I quickly noticed she was not done pooping! I had the diaper off, but did have a wipe, so luckily I caught it all in the wipe. Newborns have quite the explosive poops! Those who know me well know I don't do well with bodily fluids of any kind, but I didn't even freak out with this mess. It was a proud moment! Right then Darrell called again to say the storm was passed, and Lexi told him I couldn't talk since Baylee was pooping in the wipe, while laying on Carly's pillow. Carly was NOT thrilled about that!
But we all made it- the kids said a prayer, then we said another together, then a thankful one when the storm passed. I love that my kids have testimonies of prayers, and they know when they are scared that Heavenly Father hears them!
Here's a picture of the storm when it was over the Fayetteville Sam's. This is what a wall and funnel cloud look like- scary things!
Here are a few pictures of the pooping queen- we think she's pretty cute!

I love that you changed her in your tornado shelter...above and beyond the call of duty :)Glad the pooped pillow was the worst of the damage during the storm :) She is so cute I could just squeeze the poop out of her!

Good job with those body fluids! Well at least Baylee did well with you all in the closet. We were wondering if you got anything with all the crazy storms this week

Wow, I can't imagine having to crawl into a closet with my kids! We've had crazy rain here the last couple weeks, and a freak hail storm....but nothing like a tornado. Glad you had all the necessities handy to change her! She is cute!

We haven't had a scare yet this year. They were in the SE part of the OKC metro tonight. If they hold together, you might have a rough middle of the night. Kudos to you with Baylee. The first time there was a tornado warning after I had Cora, I was a bumbling mess.

Kylea was texting her friend Taylar and she said she was sitting in their tornado closet. We wondered if you guys had any warnings too. Glad to hear everything is ok. I really don't miss that part of living the midwest. Although I really wish we had your schools:)

It's amazing to see that picture (which I saw on the news, too!) and then to think that a few hours later, we were right there at that spot, at the Drive-in watching a movie! =) Crazy Arkansas weather.

Glad you are all safe! I'm not sure I would be so calm with a brand new baby.

Sounds like a fun moment! May I suggest a coleman battery powered Lantern that stays in the closet? We get crazy wind here, and it blew the power out one night. It made me realize that we didn't have enough flashlights and lanterns. Between Matt and I (unknown to each other) in the following two days we bought four lanterns and four flashlights! Bring on the blackouts! :) (not the tornadoes though)

Oh my gosh, tornados FREAK me out. You did so great to stay calm under pressure! Kiss those sweet, beautiful girls for us. We'll miss y'all at the reunion... :(
