Labor Day Campout!

We have been talking about taking the girls camping for quite a while but they were not as excited as we were to go. Ashlee was terrified to sleep outside- I had to remind her that we have camped before, she just doesn't remember. Some of our friends here have done camp outs in their backyards and we thought this was a good way to break in the kids.

They LOVED it! They can't wait to go to a real campground and sleep, as long as there are no bears, wild dogs, and any other crazy thing Ashlee can think of to worry about! We promised them we would take them somewhere safe, so maybe in a few weeks we'll do it, or if the rain is too much then it will have to wait until spring.
We started out with S'mores (or Snores according to Carly and her friend Anna!) on the BBQ- I was not about to dig a pit in my back yard! We invited some friends over to eat them with us, and after a few tries we finally got them work.

I was so surprised how quick the kids went to sleep- I thought for sure they would complain a little. No one woke up to go to the bathroom in the night either- we were not looking forward to that!

We woke up the next morning around 8- that is sleeping in for my kids, and did a few things and went swimming. The pool in our subdivision is finished, so we got to use it a few times this weekend, it was a busy, but fun 3 day weekend!

Sounds like a fun weekend. Your girls are so cute, and that Ashlee cracks me up. That will be so fun to have a pool in your subdivision now. Take care!

If I have to go camping, that's the way I'd do it. Mike and the kids camped out this weekend on the trampoline - I slept comfortably in my own bed!

You know what campground your girls would love that I highly recommend? Our house! We miss you and would love to see you.
That was a cool idea. Those snores make me hungry.

What a great idea! I LOVED doing that as a kid but am still traumatized when I remember seening the nasty roaches crawling on top of the tent. They can't get in, right!??!
