I have only put together a gingerbread house one time in my life and every year I want to do it again, and never get around to it. This week Darrell did the grocery shopping and came home with a gingerbread house! I don't know who was more excited, me or the girls! We had Ashlee give a quick lesson and put the house together for FHE. I was even more happy when it didn't fall apart! As you can see Darrell got a little excited with the icing- I had to take it away very quickly and resume decorating!
Here are the girl's starting to decorate- I don't know if Carly ever actually put anything on the house or just ate it instead. We kept asking her how stale old candy tasted- but she seemed to enjoy it.
Carly decorated the tree, Lexi decorated the Snowman, and Ashlee decorated the gingerbread man- yes he does have a mustache! We forgot to ice his mouth before we stood him up- this is what happens when you ice after the gingerbread man is vertical!
Side view- look at those windows!
Other side-
Here's the back- we ran out of candy!

How fun!! You know I've never done a gingerbread house---I think you've inspired me to buy one this week and do it as a family. I'll surprise my kids.
Our gingerbread houses NEVER turn out that good. Probably because I usually let the girls completely do it themselves, like frosting and all, and I am thinking maybe that is not the best way anymore. I never want to actually display the house because it is SO ugly. Yours looks SO cute!
That is so fun. It looks like everyone really enjoyed it. What great memories.
Hey, I know that house! we should have sent you our 'extra' candy! You did a great job. Was the frosting hard to squeeze out for you too?
