Happy #4 Carly!

Today Carly turned 4- where is the time going?! She has so much personality we don't know what to do with her sometimes! Lately all she's been talking about is when she turns 4, or when she turns 5- she just wants to grow up so quick. I spent all morning trying to convince her she didn't want to be 4, being 3 is great- she wouldn't buy it.

Since so many of you aren't here to enjoy Carly's crazy personality-here's a few things about her.
Favorite color: she always says orange and pink, but really it changes daily.
Growing up: When Carly grows up she wants to be a Mom, and make me a Grandma. She is quite obsessed with it in fact- she can't wait to get big and old like me! Love her terms!
Favorite toys: She loves her baby dolls. But she also loves to play with anything little, especially her tiny My Little Ponies.
Favorite Story: Anything princess- she loves the Disney princesses.
Favorite show: Cyberchase, Maya and Miguel, Dora, Sid the Science Kid, Martha Speaks.
Favorite food: Pancakes for Breakfast, and Mac N Cheese any other time.
Since her birthday is so close to Christmas we try and get her a few toys for each, but not too many on either holiday- since we have too many already. This year while we were in Las Vegas we went to Wal-Mart and they had these African American Little Mommy twins. Carly asked for the twins for her last birthday- and loves her babies! But when she saw "the brown babies" as she calls them- she froze in the aisle. She had been playing with her cousin and a friend in Las Vegas and I think just realized people are different colors. She LOVED these babies at first sight and that's all she could talk about after we pried her away from them so we could leave. She kept saying that's what she wanted for her birthday- she wanted them so bad we decided we needed to buy them for her. We went back home and were excited to see the twin sets were still on sale for $10. But here in Bentonville we found out they don't have a high demand for African American baby dolls. So online i had to pay $14 and then shipping to get her precious babies here. But look at her face as she opened her present and saw what she got- she was so excited!

Partially opened and she knows she got her babies!

The other gift she really wanted was a Cinderella tea set- luckily they had one left on the shelf! So my daughter who requested a few weeks ago to be called La Fonda now has her "brown babies" and is in heaven!! I love that she noticed we are all different and she doesn't need to be scared, in fact she loved her cousin Elijah and her friend TJ so much she wanted baby dolls just like them!
Carly is so excited to be a big sister also- and can't wait for my stomach to get big. She and Ashlee rub my stomach and talk to the baby- I have to keep telling them the baby is really little and they are only rubbing my fat! Carly has since found this picture I got from my first Dr. appt and carries it around talking about how my belly will be like this soon.

Oh how we love our Carly Bug!

Love it! It is so nice to see people through kids eyes, where everyone is the same regardless of their skin color. Now we have to figure out how to help them carry that through to adulthood. :)

Happy Birthday Carly! Kate also has a little african-american cabbage patch. Once she fell in love with Jace, he's her favorite cousin to play with, she had to have that baby! We had to convince her that she could not marry him, there are laws against it!
